Hi everyone,

I’ve finished this project, the last one in the “Information Security and Quality Assurance” module. If you want, have a look: https://yagoestevez-anon-msg-board.glitch.me/

I know there are many issues that I will fix in the future, but your feedback is always very welcome

Happy International Programmers’ Day everyone!

Hey this is really well made!

I like it a lot

I haven’t used Bulma before, do you like it?

#3

Too cool man!!!
Colors perfectly suit the design.
I loved your project.
Happy International Programmers’ Day(Belated)

#4

This is the Amazing !!!
Very nice Design and attractive color combinations

I notice whenever I click on one of the 3 message boards, the following flashes to the screen for a brief moment before loading the message board. It makes the page flash. Actually, it also flashes this same page when clicking on the READ ALL COMMENTS link at the bottom of each board’s messages.

Wow! Thank you very much to everyone for the nice words! It’s always a pleasure reading those

@shimphillip Me neither. This was my first time using Bulma because I wanted to try the library and, for a project still in beta. I think it’s quite good and versatile

@aditya_p Thank you very much! I was afraid of the red color to dominate the design, but I’m quite happy with it in the end :stuck_out_tongue:

@SpadeX Thanks!!! And the best thing is that I learnt lots of things through the process!

@RandellDawson Yes! That’s a bug I’ve been trying to solve yesterday with no luck so far. It happens because the content is loaded asynchronously and the component loads the layout in the screenshot until the state is filled with data. Been working on it, trying to solve it without the need of a major refactor, but so far still stuck there. Thanks!!

Why not conditionally render a spinner to show the page is loading?

#8

Absolutely. That’s my next step, but when I decided to implement the custom messages for the empty boards and that, I was way over my auto-imposed deadline

I will definitely go back to this to fix this, improve the way the errors are displayed and add other display messages, fix little bugs in css and some other things to polish.

Thanks for your review Randell!

Just saying, this doesn’t sound like a bug. Sounds more like a gap.

It responds rather well. I don’t know if a spinner is necessary, might make it seem more clunky. I’d just use a timeout. Sometimes loaders make it seem like it’s taking longer. I would do a timeout and than have it fade in or something. Get some animations going on, that will fill in your loading time. You can have the container itself fade in - just the opacity or even a x/y offset - and then have the content fade in when it loads.

#10

Oh, yeah! About that I was interested in using some css transitions in the project and that might be a great opportunity! Thanks for your feedback @Emgo-Dev!

#11

How long is long enough? If the server is under a heavy load, it could take longer than the setTimeout’s duration.

#12

Hi, SpaniardDev. Always get an error when F5: Cannot GET /b/freecodecamp/thread/5b9ada182ec7a60bfb3641c7
Console gives me this multiple times:

Refused to load the image ‘data:image/svg+xml;base64,PD94b…’ because it violates the following Content Security Policy directive: “default-src ‘self’”. Note that ‘img-src’ was not explicitly set, so ‘default-src’ is used as a fallback.

#13

Oops! I think that’s React Router configuration on Glitch. Damn it

By opening that thread through the board you have no issues, right?

Thank you very much for your feedback! I’ll try to fix it ASAP!

#14

Yes, looks like something wrong with router.
Mobile version of home page looks good, desktop version has too wide forum blocks and buttons. I would make several in a row.
When I pick a forum first I see message “Sorry. There are no messages.” which disappear after content is loaded. It would be better to show loader and set this message as a server response, when there are no messages.

#15

Yep, absolutely. I’m not proud of the boards section
About the flashing “Sorry” message, also right hehe. Was mentioned before on this thread.
Everything will be hopefully fixed! Thank you very much for taking the time to review the app!
