Defective Chessboard, D&Q approach

Hi there,

I am learning Divide and Conquer approach to defective chessboard. In my book here it says that for a chessboard 2^k * 2^k there can be 3 orientation of defective chessboard when k=1. (here triominoes are used). Why 3 orientations? Won’t here be 4 orientations?? Can anybody explain here?

It sounds like either a typo or you’re reading it wrong. Is it possible that after describing one orientation, they said that there were 3 other orientations?

Yes, I read it wrong… they used hard language to understand. I later found out somewhere it was made-esy  thanks for helping!
