FreeCodeCamp's Licensing Justification

I’m doing some research around Free and Open Source licensing and I was just wondering why FreeCodeCamp uses these two licenses:

  • BSD-3 Clause License for Computer software

  • CC-BY-SA-4.0 License for curricular content

What were the reasons for incorporating these two licenses and would there be a massive difference if say, only the BSD-3 clause existed?

Regards,
James.

BSD and the usual FLOSS bunch just aren’t fit for purpose when it comes to content. There are some specialised ones for documentation, but all relatively new compared to the code ones. And CC is the overarching champion for licensing content.
