The += means whatever is on the left + what you need to add on the right! Simply put as mentioned by @Topzie,

a += 15 is short for a = a + 15

For example,

var name = "rishav"; // your usrname's first part.
name += 1997; // adding 1997 to "name" variable which now contains the value rishav
console.log(name); // result of "rishav" + 1997

output will be // rishav1997

Think about how you can add b with b + 9 using += now. Hope this helps.
