Next time when you post for help, you have to tell us what problem you are facing.

Now in the code,

I see you have missed the dot before the class name silver-background
And there is an extra bracket before the </style>

And you have did this in your html code

class="silver-background"

You have to give this class to your <div>

This is not how you add class to an element.

I think your

class="silver-background"
should go in to the div open tag like this:
<div class="silver-background">
your code 
</div>
then style the background , you have, but it looks incomplete.

silver-background {
    background-color: silver;
  }

remember class attributes are signified by the dotClassvalue (.Classvalue); therefore

.silver-background {
    background-color: silver;
  }
