From what I’ve learned a little of both is good but we are not an island so we have to make room for others who possess more knowledge and experience with the aspect that we don’t and just learn from them . Good question though , as far as markets go front end and back end coders are in really high demand
Having a design background as a frontend developer is a very good thing however and will be one thing that can distinguish you from other people on the market. not saying it is necessary, but since frontend is not really a technical demanding field, expertise in UI/UX design can be hugely beneficial. Also, as of writing now, the demand in frontend developers is generally higher and the salary for frontend are slightly higher than backend. there are already many out of the box frontend solutions and there will come more, that require little setup and only the ability to maintain and extend them.
Most teams have a UI/UX designer,
so as a Front End Developer, you are probably the person that “translates” the work of the UI/UX designer into readable code.
