Think of this way - It will take you roughly 9 months from now to be ready for a developer job or freelancing. However delaying 1 day becomes 9 months and 1 day. Delay by 1 month and it becomes 10 months. Delay by 1 year and it becomes 1 year and 9 months.
The sooner you start it, the better.
