Pretty new rookie here when it comes to programming. Hopefully will be able to develop a better portfolio as I get deeper into this course. Any advice would be Awesome!

Hi Kyle - welcome to the forum 
A couple of things would make your portfolio a bit easier on the eyes.

Choose background colours and text colours that offer better contrast. White text on a yellow background is very hard to read, and especially so for anyone with even the mildest vision impairment.

Use CSS
paddingormarginto introduce a little breathing room for your elements on the page - specifically try to avoid having your text touching the edge of the screen.
Portfolios really shine with some images to show off the work you’ve done. Practice adding some images in a visually appealing style (like a grid of images, or carousel).
