Test- Fallback value to a CSS Variable, I can't move on
0

Among my two answers, only the last is marked as passed, even though the output is correct for both of them and the syntax is the same. I get the following answer: “Apply the fallback value of black to the background property of the penguin-top class.
Passed
Apply the fallback value of black to the background property of the penguin-bottom class”.

Your code so far

#2

ah I see the problem

the code defines exactly three variables

--penguin-skin: gray;
--penguin-belly: white;
--penguin-beak: orange;

it doesn’t define the variables you are using --penguin-bottom and --penguin-top
try replacing these with --penguin-skin instead

#3

The request is :"Add a fallback value of black to the background property of penguin-top and penguin-bottom classes. In this case, should I probably define them up first?. What is strange to me is the fact that the penguin-bottom class seems to be well accepted : "Apply the fallback value of black to the background property of the penguin-bottom class.-passed ". And also, the code output on the right side is correct for both of them, as the colors of the image are properly changed .

#4

yes sadly there is an inconsistency in how the challenge checks the top and bottom.

However you should know that variables need to be defined in order to be used so that’s always something good to learn.
I believe you understand the topic at hand (fallbacks) because you saw how it works when you specified the non-existent variable. Now just fix the value to what the challenge expects and you can officially pass it.

#5

Sorry, even after I defined the variables “–penguin-top: black;
–penguin-bottom: black;” up, it still doesn’t let me pass. i am stuck in this point I cannot move on with the test. It gives me the same error on and on and : “Apply the fallback value of black to the background property of the penguin-top class.”, even though the code is obviously correct. What can i do to go on with the test, please? Thank you for the help.

#6

so just reset the code using the reset button and simply add the black fallback to each line mentioned in the exercise.
The code for FCC cannot handle anything else that you do (even though it is correct).

To re-iterate:

  • click the reset button
  • add black fallback to the 2 lines mentioned
  • run and submit

#7

Unfortunately I reset my code 2 times, I cleared the browser cache . but the problem persists. It doesn’t let me move on until i don’t solve this unknown problem. is it any way to debug this?

#8

it is important that when you reset the code, that you do not touch any lines other than the 2 mentioned in the exercise. Do not define any new variables. Just use the --penguin-skin one and use black and fallback.

Please share your code here if you are still struggling.

```
put code in between two lines with backticks
```

the back-tick is the character near the ESC key on your keyboard

The problem persists, i cannot move on, even if the code output shows it is correct. Here’s the entire code:

ok I see you are still using --penguin-bottom and --penguin-top in your background line
just change those to --penguin-skin and you should be able to pass.

#12

Ok, it looks like it finally worked. Thank you for the help!
