I was wondering what everyone’s knowledge was like in regard to using material from other sources for a web coding project. For example, could I use images of say Tom Cruise from other sources in my project? Or would I be risking copyright infringement even if the project isn’t going to be used commercially?
For the most part, you are doing this for educational purposes so I think it would be okay.
However if it makes you feel better, then add a source address or similar.
For the most part, I think your judgement will be good enough.
Always attribute the source. For something like this, probably no one is going to notice and come after you but ideally you should be looking for images that are licensed for reuse.
Around the web, you can images for use with just having to give credit to the provider. One such is here.
